Rod, age 10, helping in the kitchen
The story of Rod' s Rub began 30+ years ago, with Rod growing up with parents who loved to cook. Rod' s passion for food and cooking styles developed at an early age. Rod' s mom believed in homemade, family meals with her son working beside her in the kitchen. Soon, Rod adopted his mother' s talent for mixing what was in the pantry into a spectacular family meal.
At the age of 17, Rod was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings Organization, and played professional hockey for several years. During his hockey career Rod lived away from home and began cultivating his desire to learn various indoor and outdoor cooking techniques and began experimenting with flavor combinations.
At the age of 23, Rod suffered an injury and left hockey to begin a law enforcement career with the state of Michigan. Rod expanded his passion for experimentation with cooking, and began brewing beer. He became an enthusiast of micro-brews, and the science of brewing. He loved creating flavor combinations and quickly created a fan base for his 'world-famous' brews.
Rod expanded his focus from micro-brews to regional cooking styles. Rod always had a passion for the South and southern-style cooking. He was a student of great southern chefs and made several trips to the south to embody the culture and enjoy the rich dinning experience. Rod loved the south and moved to Atlanta, GA to join the Atlanta Police Department. Living in the South ignited Rod' s passion for barbecuing, and became famous with friends and family for his meals.
Rod never tired of cooking shows, reading cookbooks and perfecting his recipes. Known for his cooking passion, a restaurateur asked Rod for a custom dry rub for his new restaurant. Rod was flattered and excited about the opportunity and selected one of his many dry rub recipes for the restaurant. Unfortunately, the restaurant never opened, but fortunately for Rod, Rod' s Rub did!
Rod created three special dry rub mixes and sent them to over 100 friends who served as the Rod' s Rub test market. Friends from around the country tried the products and each of them espoused amazing reviews. Feedback from around the country poured in, all with one common trait, a list of foods and dishes that were prepared using Rod' s Rub. It was fun that everyone was sharing how they used the product. This spurred the tag line "What can' t you rub it on?" The tag line communicates to customers that Rod' s Rub is not just a meat rub or a barbecue rub, but can be used to make any dish a delight.
Today, Rod' s deep passion for food and hockey continues. For the last 4 years, Rod served as the General Manager for Georgia' s Kennesaw State University' s hockey team, leading his team to victory for the 2006 Division 3 National Title.
Rod served 9 years as an Atlanta City police officer, winning Police Officer of the Year, twice, and was awarded the City' s highest honor, a Phoenix Award, from Atlanta' s City Council for leading the Atlanta Police Department' s Katrina Disaster Relief for the New Orleans Police and Fire Department families and for creating floor hockey clinics and camps for 250 underprivileged children in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of America, Atlanta City Council, and Thrashers organization (Atlanta' s NHL team).

Rod is thrilled that people are able to enjoy Rod' s Rub in their home, and knowing Rod' s Rub is an all natural product makes him happy to bring a healthy alternative to the retail aisles and food service industry.
